My Chemical Romance CONCERT (Please mark)

Pictures taken by Melissa Chan of MCRmy SEA

During the month of October, school was about to end. I received a phone call from my cousin who told me that she heard from MTV that My Chemical Romance, my favorite band, is coming to Singapore. Luckily, I was at the computer at that time and went to sistic.com.sg to book the tickets. My friend who was living with me at that time and my younger brother who is six wanted to go too. After telling my mother the
people going, she booked a ticket for the reserved seating. At first, we had the first row seating but because my internet browser crashed, we got the fifth row instead. I was disappointed at that time but nevertheless, I still get to see My Chem.

During the November/ December holidays I went to Jakarta and Pekanbaru, both of which is in Indonesia, to visit my family. We hired a guitar teacher there and managed to play a show. But I could not wait until I came back on the 10th of December to prepare for the concert.

Finally, I reached Singapore. I rested for a whole day and was very excited about the show. I had found out that one of my friends had gotten a backstage pass and get to interview the band. I was very jealous but she promised she'd give me my favorite member, Frank Iero's, signature. The day finally came and I dressed in their t-shirt and my brother in a black shirt, which is a tradition of the fans. My mother drove me to the Singapore Expo as I see a parade of black-wearing people on the road. It excites me to see that there are a lot of fans that are coming to watch them.

I walked to the entrance gate because I did not need to line up. That was because my seat was reserved and it does not come on a first come first serve basis for my group. I saw a sea of black trying to get into the building. What was funny was people were wearing other band's t-shirts although it is their concert. While I was trying to find my way in, I saw two of my primary school teachers. I was surprised because they did not seem like ones who liked this kind of music. I greeted them and ironically, they said I was the one that does not look like one who like rock music. I shrugged my shoulders and entered the crowd. Luckily, I have my younger brother in front of me so I could use him as an excuse for space. Which worked very well.

I entered the building. It was cold yet full of excitement. One of the guitarists went out to do a sound check. The arena was filled with cheers. I can't see his face though. The arena darkened and cheers came from the crowd. The band came in and played their first song, "This is How I Disappear". The song list is different from their American Leg but they are very well ordered. They managed to bring the crowd into an excited mood and even get the boys to take their shirts off. We were jumping the whole time. Even my little brother. They ended the show with their popular song, "Famous Last Words".

That was the best day of my life and I will never forget it.

Mini Guitar Lessons (please mark)

Last Wednesday, I brought my acoustic guitar, a Yamaha one, to school to play with my classmate who has brought drumsticks with him. We have been planning to do this for a few days. There was no drumsets in the class so we used tables and books instead. I asked my mother to drive me to school the night before because the guitar was huge and bulky and the bus I ride is always crowded in the morning.

When I reached school, I waited for him to come so we could play a little early in the morning. When he came, he took his drumsticks out and we started playing some "warm up" stuff which was actually random drumbeats accompanied by random guitar riffs. It's more of a random playing instead of a warm up, but it was fun. As you know, time flies when you're having fun so before we get to play anything proper, the morning bell rung and to the parade square we go.

Before recess was English lesson. As the last minute before recess break comes, I was counting seconds on the class clock. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. The bell rung and the whole class gave a relaxed sigh because the bell tells them that the lesson is over. Me and my friend decided not to go down and eat during recess and stayed in class to play instead. We did the same "warm up" again and played a proper song. We played "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" by Green Day halfway, because I forgot the lyrics and a few other songs. My friend was interested in playing the guitar so for around fifteen minutes, I taught him how to play "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" and the main notes for "What I've Done" by Linkin Park. Honestly, he was a very good learner and learned four chords in a matter of minutes. I tried to accompany his playing by playing the "drums". It was a very fun experience playing with my friend.

Introducing the Gibson Les Paul. Alpine white.

A new shopping mall just opened near the Indoor Stadium. It's called the Kallang Leisure Park though I'm pretty sure it's made out of concrete and not natural grass and trees. There is an ice skating rink inside and a bowling alley so me and my family decided to walk there since it is of a walking distance from my house. It took us approximately ten minutes to get there. Although it is new, there are already a lot of people visiting it. My brothers wanted to go to the ice skating rink or "Kallang Ice World" as they call it, though it's just a plain ice skating rink. It was pretty easy to start with because I've been inline skating the past few months so it didn't take much time to get used to.

The first few rounds were terrible. I had to go very slowly because my brother keeps on falling down. I had to accompany him until he gets the hang of it and go by himself while my other brother gets to go around a few times. After he is able to do it by himself, I get into top speed and raced around the rink. I was able to make a full turn after a few try and made circles on the ice. Since we were allowed 2 hours of ice skating fun, we were satisfied customers at the end of the day.

Today, I went to Suntec City to try to find a doctor but turns out, they're all closed. So I went to accompany my mom to register my brother for religious classes and, by luck, found a doctor. He gave me six types of medicine and two of them causes drowsiness. As I am writing this, I feel very sleepy, although it's only five in the afternoon. I hope I get better soon. I won't be coming to school tomorrow though.

DEFIANCE!

NOTICE: NAVIGATE USING THE PICTURES ABOVE THE LETTERS "MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE"

I feel very defiant today so... I will use colorful words in this post.

Ok, I know this post won't be counted but this is plainly for fun.

So today, we ran 2.4 km during P.E. I didn't do that well but it was better than before. The lesson after that was mathematics. We were asked to do a few confusing questions before having an early recess. History is next and during history, Mr. Thiru made Muru and Sidarth squat repeatedly.

COLORFUL WORDS.
